I am happy to say that our committees are moving right along, though we could use some volunteers for a couple of them. So if you are interested, please contact me.
The sale of our Breeding Charts, (thank you Donna Palmer!) has been going very well. I am not sure of how many we have sold, but offer them up to your friends, neighbors and other goat breeders, they are a handy tool! Go to our web site http://www.Cybergoat.com/ISBA and click on Fund Raisers. You can also buy our terrific Breeding Calendars online too.
You will find a PayPal button there. And we want to give a big thanks to Jan Brewer who fit the making of the Calendar into her already overcrowded schedule, and put up with us newbies to this!
I want to complement our membership on how hard you are working to reach our goals. I am hoping that before long, we will be working on cordial terms with NSBA also. I feel that as soon as they realize that we really do not want to be in the Saanen herd book, and are able to see our proposal that the committee is working on, they will have a new perspective of the Sable goals. Speaking of NSBA, I won the lambar and the wind chimes in their raffle. How about that! Now I am going to put them in our auction.
As some of you are aware, we are going to have a fund raising auction soon. We would like to buy software to help out with the Registration of Sables into our database, and print registrations. The sooner the better. So, dig around the house and see what you have to add. So far, we have a signed sketch of Mountain goats by V. Claftin, software, a T-shirt with one of our Babies on it, and whatever you all add to it. We will discuss the auction at the meeting online and update you more on it as it progresses.
Diane Gray is better and back online. She has set up her AIM and we look forward to her attending the meeting.
I met Klisse Goodey and Pam Gripp for the first time at the convention. Both are really nice gals and worked hard on the display area and the raffle. Kliss even gave up several of her paid seminars to attend to the Raffle Table. Next year, I hope we have more volunteers! Pam and her husband were both great to talk to and I got to sit with them at the Wine and Cheese.
Our thanks to Dar Glasgow Addington for the muck bucket and goodies, and also for updating the display that she did for us. By next year, we hope to have something besides the styroboard to put it on. Wee also added some of the sables from the New Zealand group, and Wairie Saanens and Sables. If you have heard of Harvey's Kewi, this is where he came from. They certainly have some nice Saanens and Sables!
The goat milk fudge made by Pam Gripp was a big hit! And super delicious. Rodney Keener donated some of his Lacy Letter Cookies and they were a hit also. He even donated some to the hospitality area which everyone enjoyed.
See ya next month...

Disappointments are like road humps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards
When you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight and be happy, because God is thinking of something better to give you
A man is driving down a country road somewhere in Idaho, when he spots a farmer standing in the middle of a huge field of potatoes. He pulls the car over to the side of the road & notices that the potato farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing.
The man gets out of the car, walks all the out to the farmer and asks him, "Ah excuse me mister, but what are you doing?"
The potato farmer replies, "I'm trying to win a Nobel Prize."
"How?" asks the man, puzzled.
"Well I heard they give the Nobel Prize to people who are out standing in their field."
True Story!!!!
In the 2nd such incident in the Southwest, a lady purchased a large cactus during the redecoration of her home. The large cactus was fitting "centerpiece" for her new South West look. And she was quite happy with her $3,000 purchase. For a little while.
A few days later, she noticed that the big cactus was swaying and humming. Bewildered, and not knowing what else to do, she turned to 9-1-1 for help.
Fortunately, for her, she got an operator who knew exactly what this un-catus-like behavior was.
She was told to clear out of the house, immediately! Right now! And wait for an emergency team.
The responding 5 man team had just enough time to move the huge $3,000 cactus to the back yard before it burst wide open, scattering about a thousand tarantulas in all directions! The nursery where she had purchased the cactus, refunded her $3,000 and also paid for exterminator service for the entire block.
The fashion of using huge cacti for home decoration is fairly new, but tarantulas have been using them for mass breeding farms for a long, long time.
When later asked how her plants were, the lady replied, " Plastic and silk, thank you!"

ONLINE MEETINGS
We have had some changes in our Online Meeting Format. Due to problems in getting connected for some of you, what we are going to do now, is all of the main subjects will be posted throughout the month. Reply with your feedback and suggestions, questions, etc. This way if there is any voting needed to be done, we can do it either on the ISBA Community Site and announce it when we have our online meeting, or vote when we meet. Since some of you are not on the Internet, just email programs, I would suggest the former. A voting site can be set up quietly and the votes can be private.
