Teaching A Goat To Lead When I have one that is stubborn I take a lead rope and clip it to the collar and run it around her under her tail and clip to the collar on the other side or just hold it in your hand if not double ended at the right length.. then pull on the lead rope so it pushes her from behind. Don't let the collar tug backwards though. Hold it all in your hand so it is all forward motion.Collar and lead at the same time. Debby TN Hay twine works nicely ,too. Put the uncut loop under their tail and just use a light on and off pressure-works with MOST of them. Foals too. Take Care, Jeannie and Neill Sayers , Herbhome Farm

Front page headline in tonight's "Shropshire Star". Goats offer has art man on the horns of dilemma. A Shrewsbury art dealer Daniel Callaghan was recently offered £20,000 plus 2000 Tiberian mountain goats for three oil paintings at a fine art fair in Kensington, London. After six days of serious negotiations the buyer agreed to replace the original offer with £50,000 and a case of champagne much to the relief of Mr.Callaghan! Christine [UK].
Poisonous Plant Sites Maxine Kinne's links to poisonous plant and poison control sites http://hometown.aol.com/goatlist/glinks.htm ******************* http://www.apolonia.net/Apollonia_Farm/story.html#story The veterinarian finally arrived. We showed him to the barn. After examining the goats he confirmed our suspicions, the goats had been poisoned. We then spent the next hour trying to get a mixture of ginger, epsom salt, molasses and warm water down them with a stomach tube. ******************* Another Poison Plant site with search engine |

This test enables you to test milk in the barn by dipping one single strip about the size of your finger into your drawn sample. Within 30 minutes you can get a somatic cell count (White Blood Cell Count) and also a read to tell you if there are abnormal amounts of staph and strep bacteria strains present in the udder. It is very accurate and can be used not just to test but also to see if anti-biotics are working. It can also demonstrate that even if the goat milk is high in somatic cell count, it doesnt mean that bacteria is present as many of you know can be the case in late lactation. Please call 972-679-0358 for information or ordering. It will soon be available for online purchase.
